What Elektra King (SOPHIE MARCEAU) does as part of her job, running her late father’s Azerbaijan oil pipeline construction in The World Is Not Enough. Since she does it on skis, it’s also a great excuse for one of those long patented 007 ski chases. This time it’s Bond (PIERCE BROSNAN) and Elektra versus a squadron of “Parahawks,” lethal hang gliders that are equipped with machine guns and grenades and can convert to swift snowmobiles. Unfortunately, this is the film’s least interesting action piece, harking back to dozens of similar action set pieces that are predictable and dull (remember the helicopter battle in You Only Live Twice and you’ll get the picture).
