The special ingredients in the “atomic device” given to Auric Goldfinger (Gert Fröbe) by the Red Chinese government in Goldfinger. Activated by Mr. Ling (Burt Kwouk), a specialist in nuclear fission, the bomb is set to detonate inside the American gold repository at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The cobalt and iodine will render the fallout “particularly dirty,” with the goal of irradiating America’s entire gold supply for fifty-eight years.
