DIALOGUE, FIRST

Contributed by: The Complete James Bond Movie Encyclopedia by Steven Jay Rubin

The first-ever line of dialogue in a James Bond movie was heard on the night of October 21, 1954, when Casino Royale made its debut as a one-hour, live drama on CBS Television’s Climax Mystery Theater. Following host William Lundigan‘s introduction, James Bond (BARRY NELSON) appears onscreen, walking into the casino in Monte Carlo. Bullets are fired, missing Bond and prompting the doorman to rush to 007‘s side. “Are you hurt?” he asks. “No,” Bond replies. “Still in one piece, but I wouldn’t know how.”
