Director Alain Resnais’s art-house hit, which inspired director Terence Young’s pre-credits teaser for From Russia with Love. The Resnais film featured some incredibly beautiful night shots in a garden surrounded by Greek statues. Young duplicated this setting on the Pinewood Studios backlot—next to the studio administration building—as SPECTRE assassin Donald Grant (Robert Shaw) tracks down and murders the phony Bond.
