A Japanese cargo ship owned by Osato Chemical and bound from Shanghai to Kobe, Japan, a microphoto of which is stolen by James Bond (Sean Connery) out of the Tokyo office safe of Mr. Osato himself (Teru Shimada) in You Only Live Twice. By enlarging the photo, Bond and Tanaka (Tetsuro Tamba) discover ama pearl divers in the background, which establishes the position of the ship near their island. Later at the Kobe docks, Bond finds the Ningpo loading containers of liquid oxygen (lox)—a rocket propellant that could be fueling SPECTRE’s secret Intruder spaceship.
