Ice-bound region in the Soviet Union where James Bond (ROGER MOORE) finds the dead body of 003, in A View to a Kill. Recovering a microchip stolen from the Russians, Bond prepares to return to a camouflaged minilaunch piloted by fellow agent Kimberley Jones (MARY STAVIN). Complicating his escape, however, is an attack by a sizable number of armed Russian KGB agents, supported by a heavily armed helicopter.
When one of his skis is struck by machinegun fire, Bond latches onto a Soviet Skidoo snowmobile, which is blasted apart by the helicopter. Agent 007 then takes one of the runners and literally surfs down a glacier—to the tune of the Beach Boys classic “California Girls” performed by Gidea Park. As for the helicopter, Bond fires a red flare into its cockpit, sending the out-of-control chopper into a snow peak, where it disintegrates.
