A series of narrow canals that crisscross Bangkok, Thailand, which are featured in a boat chase in The Man with the Golden Gun. Instead of racing along in a swift motorboat, as he did in the previous film, Live and Let Die, Bond (Roger Moore) steals a relatively slow, knifelike Thai motor canoe for his getaway vehicle.
Agent 007 actually gets better results with the canoe’s propeller when it’s out of the water—scaring the hell out of his pursuers—than when it’s in the water. While racing by in the canoe, 007 is spotted by his old bayou buddy Sheriff J. W. Pepper (Clifton James), who’s in Thailand on a vacation with his wife, Maybelle.
