CHITWOOD, JOIE

(April 14, 1912–January 3, 1988): American stunt daredevil whose Greatest Show on Wheels troupe was featured prominently in Live and Let Die. Chitwood, among other things, portrayed Charlie, the doomed CIA chauffeur who is killed by Whisper (Earl Jolly Brown) while driving Bond (Roger Moore) in New York City.

A native of Denison, Texas, Chitwood made his uncredited feature film debut in the crime drama Fireball Jungle (1968). In addition to his work on Live and Let Die, Chitwood handled stunt driving work on, among others, A Small Town in Texas (1976), Stunts (1977), and Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 (1983).
