(May 15, 1926–June 26, 1983): Former Royal Air Force officer who flew the helicopter for the scene in which SPECTRE chases Bond (Sean Connery) across the foothills of Yugoslavia in From Russia with Love. The sequence was actually filmed near Lochgilphead, Scotland. Crewdson returned to fly Draco’s helicopter in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and he was also part of the aerial crew on both The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only.

Crewdson, a native of Horley, Surrey, England, made his motion picture flying debut as a helicopter pilot on director Joseph Sterling’s thriller Operation Conspiracy (1956), the cast of which included Bill Nagy (Mr. Midnight in Goldfinger). He later coordinated all the aerial sequences in The War Lover (1962).
