GRAY, WILLOUGHBY

(November 5, 1916–February 13, 1993): British character actor who portrayed renegade Nazi scientist Dr. Carl Mortner in A View to a Kill. Born in London, Gray made his credited feature film debut in director Roy Kellino’s crime drama Guilt Is My Shadow (1950), which featured a bit role for Desmond Llewelyn. He later played the elderly king in The Princess Bride (1987), before ending his career as Sir John Stevens in the television series Howards’ Way (40 episodes, 1985–1990).
