GUR, ALIZA

(April 1, 1944–     ): Israeli-born actress who portrayed Vida, the smaller gypsy who battles Zora (Martine Beswick) in the celebrated girl fight in From Russia with Love. It was her credited feature film debut, although she had earlier played an extra in Cecil B. DeMille’s The Ten Commandments (1956). A native of Ramat Gan, Israel, Gur emigrated to the US in her twenties and began booking film and television assignments. She was also Miss Israel 1960.
