KERSHNER, IRVIN

(April 29, 1923–November 27, 2010): Acclaimed American film director who helmed Never Say Never Again. He’s best known for directing the second Star Wars film, The Empire Strikes Back (1980).

A native of Philadelphia, Kershner made his big-screen directorial debut on Stakeout on Dope Street (1958). His additional feature film credits include The Luck of Ginger Coffey (1964); A Fine Madness (1966), with Sean Connery; Eyes of Laura Mars (1978); and RoboCop 2 (1990).
