(July 17, 1922–September 24, 2006; birth name: Shozaburo Tanba): Handsome Japanese actor who portrayed Tiger Tanaka, the head of the Japanese Secret Service, in You Only Live Twice.
A Tokyo native, the prolific Tamba made his motion picture debut in director Hideo Suzuki’s crime drama Satsujin Yôgisha (1952). He made his English-language film debut a decade later in director Etienne Périer’s World War II drama Bridge to the Sun (1961).
For You Only Live Twice, Tamba’s voice was redubbed by British voice actor Robert Rietti.
