TERRORIST ARMS BAZAAR ON THE RUSSIAN BORDER

Contributed by: The Complete James Bond Movie Encyclopedia by Steven Jay Rubin

Setting for the opening teaser in Tomorrow Never Dies. While Bond (PIERCE BROSNAN) initiates video surveillance (which is piped into the situation room at MI-6 in London) we see a “terrorist supermarket” of lethal weapons, including Panther AS565 attack helicopters, Chinese “Long March” scud missiles, a pair of Russian mortars, Chilean mines, and German explosives. However, when British Intelligence informs the missile frigate HMS Chester to open fire with a cruise missile, they don’t realize that Soviet SP-5 nuclear torpedoes are present on one of the Russian jets on display. To prevent a nuclear explosion, Bond steals the Russian jet and saves the day.
