(Kenosha, Wisconsin, May 6, 1915—0ctober 10, 1985) Avant-garde American writer/director/producer/actor who portrayed Soviet masterspy Le Chiffre in the Casino Royale spoof.

Well known for his 1938 Halloween “War of the Worlds” radio broadcast, which caused panic along the eastern seaboard of the United States, Welles’s own film career started off with a bang in 1941 with his Academy Award-winning film Citizen Kane, but he never quite lived up to that promising start.
