BEAN, SEAN

(April 17, 1959–     ): Popular English character actor who played Alec Trevelyan, a.k.a. 006, a.k.a. Janus, an ex-double-0 agent turned traitor, in GoldenEye.

Bean first received international attention when he portrayed Sean Miller, an Irish terrorist who confronts Harrison Ford in Patriot Games (1992). He later played Boromir, the doomed prince of Gondor, in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), and ten years later he starred as Eddard “Ned” Stark, the charismatic patriarch of the Stark family, in the HBO series Game of Thrones. A native of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Bean made his feature film debut in director Roy Battersby’s romantic drama Winter Flight (1984).
