BLEUCHAMP INSTITUTE FOR ALLERGY RESEARCH

Contributed by: The James Bond Movie Encyclopedia by Steven Jay Rubin

Cover organization run by SPECTRE chief Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Telly Savalas) in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Located at Piz Gloria, an Alpine peak accessible only by funicular, the institute treats allergy patients—a group of beautiful women. As part of Blofeld’s scheme to blackmail the free world, the girls are systematically brainwashed so they will distribute a terrifying toxin that can completely destroy the agricultural and livestock capabilities of the targeted nations.

The institute is named after “Count Balthazar de Bleuchamp,” the royal moniker Blofeld is attempting to claim as his own. His aristocratic aspirations give James Bond (George Lazenby) an opening to infiltrate the institute, posing as London College of Arms heraldry expert Sir Hilary Bray. The structure is eventually obliterated in a dawn helicopter assault, led by Bond and Marc-Ange Draco (Gabriele Ferzetti), by gunmen from the Union Corse crime syndicate.
