FLYING SAUCER

The name of the enormous yacht belonging to Maximilian Largo (Klaus Maria Brandauer) in Never Say Never Again. In Italian, “flying saucer” translates to Disco Volante—the name Ian Fleming, Kevin McClory, and Jack Whittingham gave to the yacht in the original novel Thunderball. For Never, producer Jack Schwartzman received permission to film aboard Saudi billionaire Adnan Khashoggi’s yacht, the Nabila. Nearly three hundred feet long, the Nabila had a helicopter pad and eleven guest suites, many of which had gold bathroom fittings.
