(September 24, 1924–December 15, 2009): British production designer who served in that capacity on The Man with the Golden Gun.

A native of London, Murton made his motion picture debut as an uncredited draftsman on director Leslie Arliss’s romantic drama A Lady Surrenders (1944). After many years on the drawing board, Murton first rose to the position of art director on actor/director Peter Sellers’s I Like Money (1961), a.k.a. Mr. Topaze.

Three years later, Ken Adam asked him to join the Goldfinger team—again as art director, a capacity he continued in on Thunderball. Murton climbed the ladder again to production designer on director Peter Medak’s pitch-black comedy The Ruling Class (1972). As a top production designer, he’s also worked on films such as The Eagle Has Landed (1976), Death on the Nile (1978), Superman II (1980), Superman III (1983), and Spies Like Us (1985).
