(November 17, 1905–June 19, 1988; birth name: Akira Shimada): Well-known Japanese character actor who portrayed the ruthless industrialist and SPECTRE agent Mr. Osato in You Only Live Twice.  A native of Mito, Japan, Shimada made his uncredited motion picture debut as a Japanese dignitary in director Charles Brabin’s romantic drama The Washington Masquerade (1932).
