(January 19, 1941–     ): Nearly bald musician who portrayed the bookish gay assassin Mr. Kidd in Diamonds Are Forever, his film debut. A bassist for Thelonious Monk, Smith was discovered in a Los Angeles nightclub by director Guy Hamilton, who felt that his wild look was perfect for Kidd.
