A British electronic surveillance and communications ship disguised as a Greek fishing trawler in For Your Eyes Only. On board is ATAC, the Automatic Targeting Attack Communicator, a sophisticated electronic device that uses an ultra-low-frequency coded transmission to order nuclear submarines to launch their ballistic missiles.
When the St. Georges is sunk by a mine that gets snared in her fishing nets—placed there by Soviet agent Aris Kristatos (Julian Glover)—technicians are unable to trigger the ATAC self-destruct mechanism. Thus, a race begins between the Russians and the British Secret Service to recover the ATAC from its watery grave off the coast of Albania.
