Well known for his 1938 Halloween “War of the Worlds” radio broadcast, which caused panic along the eastern seaboard of the United States, Welles’s own film career started off with a bang in 1941 with his Academy Award-winning film Citizen Kane, but he never quite lived up to that promising start.
