Raised in California, Leila performed in Europe where her appearance on BBC-TV attracted the attention of producers Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, who signed her to perform in the gypsy camp sequence. She also modeled for Chelsea artist Alex Pottner as the belly dancer in the British and European From Russia with Love poster artwork. After the Bond stint, Leila hopped over to England’s Shepperton Studios for a similar undulating chore in Hammer’s Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb.
