OCTOPUSSY’s Turban Expert – an interview with Del Singh

Costumes can make or break a movie.  Eon Productions were struggling when filming OCTOPUSSY.  They couldn’t get the turbans to both look right and stay on the actor’s heads during actions scenes.  To make it even more of a challenge, they were filming near Peterborough England. Listen to this episode to hear Dan and Tom talk with Del Singh about his experience in working on OCTOPUSSY.  Fun Stuff!

We discuss:

  • How Eon Productions found him (this is fun)
  • How Del’s Sikh background helped him
  • Meeting Roger Moore
  • Why Del’s turbans were used and the different styles
  • What Del did during filming
  • He made HOW MUCH?
  • Roger Moore’s answers to the press about Connery’s return in NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN
  • Dangerous stunts
  • Bond women – and a 20-year old’s impressions of working with them
  • Kabir Bedi, who played Gobinda and interactions with Del then and recently
  • And more …
