Year in which the gold bar, featured as the prize in Goldfinger‘s golf match, was smelted at the Weisling Foundry in Essen, Germany. It was part of a smelt of 600 ingots that were lost in 1944 near the end of World War II, but are now rumored to be lying at the bottom of Lake Toplitz in Austria’s Salzkammergut region.
