The temperature of the liquid helium in Francisco Scaramanga‘s (CHRISTOPHER LEE) solar energy plant in The Man with the Golden Gun. According to Scaramanga, absolute zero must be maintained in order to prevent what he refers to as “prompt criticality”—in other words, a major catastrophe. (Absolute zero is 459.69 degrees below zero Fahrenheit, or 273.16 degrees below zero centigrade). Mary Goodnight (BRITT EKLAND) knocks out Kron, the only security man in the plant, and dumps him into one of the solar vats. His body immediately begins to raise the temperature of the system, causing a dangerous overload that eventually triggers explosions that obliterate the entire plant.
