What Max Zorin (CHRISTOPHER WALKEN) is offering Stacey Sutton (TANYA ROBERTS) for her shares of Sutton Oil in A View to a Kill. Zorin stole the company from Stacey’s father in a rigged proxy fight. Now he’s offering the money to her on the condition that Stacey drops her lawsuit against him and keeps her mouth shut.

While a guest of Zorin at his horse sale in France, James Bond (ROGER MOORE) peers into his office with trick sunglasses and observes Zorin writing out the $5 million check to Stacey. He later slips unseen into the room, finds Zorin’s checkbook in the desk, and makes a copy of the check—#000131, dated May 3, 1985, and drawn on the Zorin International Bank. The transaction encourages Bond to go to San Francisco to investigate Stacey’s association with Zorin. Stacey takes the check but eventually tears it up. She will not give in to Zorin’s pressure tactics.
