BULGARIAN FRONTIER

James Bond’s (SEAN CONNERY) planned destination when he escapes from the Orient Express with his captured Lektor decoder and defecting Soviet cipher clerk Tatiana Romanova (DANIELA BIANCHI) in From Russia with Love. According to this plan formulated by Kerim Bey (PEDRO ARMENDARIZ), the head of the British Secret Service in Turkey, the Express will make an unscheduled stop near the Bulgarian frontier at 6:00 P.M. A car will then take Bond to the airstrip 20 miles away, where he will catch a plane that is chartered to Athens. A jet will then take him directly to London with his prizes.

Unfortunately, when Red Grant (ROBERT SHAW) murders Kerim Bey on the train, the plan is abandoned. The train does not stop and Kerim Bey’s sons—who were waiting for Bond—must scurry back to a phone to find out what the hell happened.
