Agent 007’s cool and deadly adversary in From Russia with Love, portrayed by Robert Shaw. A convicted murderer, the blond-pated Grant escaped from Dartmoor Prison in England in 1960 and was recruited by SPECTRE in 1962. According to their records, as quoted by Morzeny (Walter Gotell), Grant has been diagnosed as a “homicidal paranoiac,” which is considered superb material for their assassination training.

Working under the command of SPECTRE agent number 3 Rosa Klebb (Lotte Lenya) and SPECTRE agent number 5 and head of planning Kronsteen (Vladek Sheybal), Grant’s mission is to kill James Bond on the fabled Orient Express and capture the Lektor decoding machine that 007 has stolen from the Russian consulate in Istanbul. He will then return it to the Russians for a huge reward.
