(a.k.a. Number 3): SPECTRE spymaster recruited from Soviet intelligence in From Russia with Love, portrayed by Lotte Lenya. Third in the SPECTRE hierarchy, she’s ordered by Blofeld to execute the plan by Kronsteen (Vladek Sheybal) to humiliate James Bond (Sean Connery) and retrieve the Russian Lektor decoding machine used as bait for 007. Klebb recruits assassin Donald Grant (Robert Shaw), whose fitness she tests with a knuckle duster to the abdomen. She also recruits beautiful Russian cipher clerk Tatiana Romanova (Daniela Bianchi), who will seduce Bond in Istanbul.
After the plan fails, Klebb is nearly executed by Blofeld’s assistant Morzeny (Walter Gotell), who kills Kronsteen instead. Given one more chance to eliminate Bond, Klebb impersonates a Venetian hotel maid and is about to shoot Bond when Tania distracts her. Bond fights off Klebb, who attacks with the same poison-tipped shoe daggers that killed Kronsteen. Bond is eventually saved by Tania, who shoots Klebb. “Horrible woman,” she sighs. Bond replies, “Yes, she’s had her kicks.”
