CASE, TIFFANY

Cocky redheaded diamond smuggler portrayed by Jill St. John in Diamonds Are Forever. When Bond (Sean Connery) questions the derivation of her name, she explains that she was born on the first floor of Tiffany’s in New York while her mother was looking for a wedding ring.

Living in a third-floor apartment in Amsterdam, Case is a crafty courier for an international diamond smuggling syndicate that is being decimated by Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Charles Gray). Tiffany’s mission is to supervise the smuggling of a huge diamond cache into the United States through Los Angeles. British smuggler Peter Franks (Joe Robinson) will be the courier, but 007 kills Franks and assumes his identity.

When Bond hides the real diamonds and substitutes fake ones, Case joins her smuggling cohorts in Las Vegas to track down the real stuff. Later, she reluctantly joins forces with Bond against Blofeld, who kidnaps her. She winds up on Blofeld’s oil rig in Baja California, where Bond and the CIA disrupt SPECTRE’s latest caper to blackmail the planet with a laser satellite—powered by diamonds.
