(November 22, 1923–January 30, 1996): New Zealand–born character actor who portrayed SPECTRE agent Count Lippe in Thunderball. After bungling his mission to kill Bond at the Shrublands health clinic, Lippe is, in turn, assassinated on the highway by motorcycle-riding Fiona Volpe (Luciana Paluzzi).

A native of Hamilton, New Zealand, Doleman made his motion picture debut in director T. O. McCreadie’s war drama Always Another Dawn (1948). He later portrayed Lieutenant Commander Farrel, a US nuclear submarine officer working for Commander Dwight Towers (Gregory Peck) in director Stanley Kramer’s powerful anti-nuclear-war film On the Beach (1959). And he was spy Colonel Ross in the trilogy of thrillers based on Len Deighton’s Harry Palmer books: The Ipcress File (1965), Funeral in Berlin (1966), and Billion Dollar Brain (1967).
