EL SCORPIO NIGHTCLUB

The tough South American bar featured in the Goldfinger pre-credits teaser, where Bond (Sean Connery) arrives in a spotless white dinner jacket after setting demolition charges that will destroy Mr. Ramirez’s illegal drug operation. In that sequence, shot on Pinewood StudiosStage D, a crowd of thirty-five men and fifteen women, all playing South American locals, crowded onto the stage as choreographer Selina Wylie worked with shapely actress Nadja Regin, who dances for the crowd before she joins Bond in her dressing room.

Jack Dawkes, Sid Abrams, and Harry Thorne portrayed a typical flamenco trio on a small stage in the center of the room, though John Barry’s flamenco music was piped in electronically.
