HOLT, PATRICK

(January 31, 1912–October 12, 1993; birth name: Patrick G. Parsons): British character actor who portrayed deep-voiced RAF group captain Dawson in Thunderball.

A native of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, Holt made his credited motion picture debut, using the name Patrick Parsons, in director Brian Desmond Hurst’s drama Hungry Hill (1947). Five years later, he portrayed the Norman knight Philip DeMalvoisin, who jousts with Robert Taylor’s title character in Ivanhoe (1952), a film that also featured future Bond stuntmen Bob Simmons and George Leech as jousting knights.
