LEECH, GEORGE

(December 6, 1921–June 17, 2012): Top British stuntman and stunt coordinator who worked closely with stunt arranger Bob Simmons on many of the early Bond films, including Dr. No (as Joseph Wiseman’s stunt double), Goldfinger (as Sean Connery’s stunt double), Thunderball, Casino Royale, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (as stunt arranger), Diamonds Are Forever (as Putter Smith’s fiery stunt double), The Spy Who Loved Me (as the Lotus Esprit stunt driver), For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, Never Say Never Again, and A View to a Kill (as Willoughby Gray’s stunt double).

A native of London, Leech got his start in big-screen stunt work riding war horses in the splashy MGM swashbucklers Ivanhoe (1952) and Quentin Durward (1955).
