A British nuclear submarine captured by the Liparus supertanker in The Spy Who Loved Me. Captain Talbot (BRYAN MARSHALL) and his crew are imprisoned, along with the crews of two other submarines— one American, one Russian—until Bond (ROGER MOORE) engineers their mass escape.

Unfortunately, while the escapees are trying to gain entry to the control room, the Ranger and the Russian sub Potemkin are sent on an attack mission, with a crew of enemy submariners. Their mission is to launch two nuclear missiles and precipitate World War III.

Fortunately, Bond gains entry to the Liparus control room. With the help of the skipper of the USS Wayne (SHANE RIMMER), he reprograms the trajectory of the two enemy missiles so that they destroy the two submarines instead.
