A Las Vegas-based division of Willard Whyte‘s (JIMMY DEAN) global conglomerate, specializing in satellite research and space exploration in Diamonds are Forever.

Having kidnapped Whyte, Ernst Stavro Blofeld (CHARLES GRAY) poses as the reclusive billionaire and uses Tectronics to develop a laser satellite powered by diamonds. Bond (SEAN CONNERY) breaks into the laboratory while impersonating Klaus Hergersheimer (ED BISHOP), the radiation-shield inspector, and steals a moon buggy to make good his escape.

The sequences at Tectronics were filmed at the Johns Manville gypsum plant outside Las Vegas.
