WORTH, B. J.

Contributed by: The James Bond Movie Encyclopedia by Steven Jay Rubin

(1952–     ): American stuntman and skydiving expert who jumped off the Eiffel Tower and parachuted to safety in A View to a Kill. Worth was doubling Grace Jones’s character, May Day. For the subsequent sequence in which May Day parachutes onto a wedding barge on the Seine, he actually jumped twice from a stationary helicopter.

Worth had previously worked as a skydiving stunt double for the pilot in the Moonraker pre-credits teaser, and stunt double for Gobinda (Kabir Bedi) in Octopussy’s midair final battle. He was later the aerial stunt arranger on The Living Daylights (for the parachute assault on Gibraltar in the teaser), the parachute stunt coordinator on Licence to Kill (for Bond and Felix’s arrival at the latter’s wedding), the free fall skydiving double for Pierce Brosnan in GoldenEye, and the halo jump coordinator on Tomorrow Never Dies.
