Retired British army officer, portrayed by Stuart Saunders in Octopussy, who has been losing steadily to Kamal Khan (LOUIS JOURDAN) in a series of high-stakes backgammon games. Down 200,000 rupees, Clive is unable to continue the game when Kamal raises the stakes. James Bond (ROGER MOORE) then offers to take over the major’s position, and he finally beats Kamal at his own game by using his “loaded” dice to score winning double sixes. The backgammon game, which was originally considered for The Spy Who Loved Me for a sequence in Max Kalba‘s Mojaba Club, was brought back to Octopussy and plays like the golf match from Goldfinger.
