Nickname for the lavish island home of Octopussy (Maud Adams) in India. Surrounded by watery gardens, streams, bathing ponds, and pools, it appears to be floating on the lake. In actuality, the floating palace is an island in the middle of Udaipur’s Lake Pichola. Unfortunately, Octopussy’s defenses do not include serious walls or barricades. Thus, a group of criminals-for-hire from downtown Udaipur can gain entrance with little trouble. Hired by Kamal Khan (Louis Jourdan), their mission is to kill James Bond.
