Bulgarian assassin portrayed by Fred Haggerty in From Russia with Love. Working for the Soviets, Krilencu has a personal vendetta against Turkish spymaster Kerim Bey (Pedro Armendariz). He’s given Station T–Turkey trouble before, but he’s stayed out of Istanbul for over a year.
It is Krilencu who places a limpet mine on the outside wall of Kerim Bey’s office. He also leads the Bulgarian assault on the gypsy camp in an effort to assassinate his enemy. In return, Krilencu is himself gunned down by a wounded Kerim Bey, who uses 007’s AR-7 sniper rifle to kill the Bulgar when he attempts to sneak out of his Istanbul apartment through a trapdoor—one that exits through the mouth of Anita Ekberg on a billboard for the Bob Hope comedy Call Me Bwana (produced by Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman).
