An old secret order of female bandits and smugglers that is revived by the title character (Maud Adams) in Octopussy. The sign of the cult is a blue-ringed octopus tattoo; Magda (Kristina Wayborn) has one of them on her buttocks, and Octopussy’s barge flies the symbol on its pennant. The blue-ringed octopus, of the genus Hapalochlaena, produces a venom that is usually fatal in seconds.
