STROMBERG MARINE RESEARCH LABORATORY

Contributed by: The Complete James Bond Movie Encyclopedia by Steven Jay Rubin

(aka Atlantis) A huge spiderlike amphibious structure located off the coast of Sardinia, in The Spy Who Loved Me, that is the centerpiece of billionaire shipping magnate Karl Stromberg‘s (CURT JURGENS) planned undersea kingdom—a “city beneath the sea.” It’s a combined residence/laboratory/operational base for Stromberg’s legal and illegal activities. In addition to shark pens, aquariums, and a functional heliport, the lab also contains a cocktail-glass—shaped escape pod that is used by James Bond (ROGER MOORE) and Anya (BARBARA BACH).
