$50,000

James Bond’s (SEAN CONNERY) fee for smuggling 50,000 carats of diamonds from Amsterdam to Los Angeles in Diamonds Are Forever. Posing as diamond smuggler Peter Franks (JOE ROBINSON), he kills the real Franks, convinces fellow smuggler Tiffany Case (JILL ST. JOHN) that Franks is really James Bond, and then plants the diamonds on the body—actually, in the body along the alimentary canal.

Arriving in Los Angeles, he’s whisked through customs, thanks to his friend Felix Leiter (NORMAN BURTON), and escorted to Las Vegas by henchmen from the diamond syndicate. There he begins a cat-and-mouse game with the smugglers, which eventually leads him to a rival ringleader-—Ernst Stavro Blofeld of SPECTRE (CHARLES GRAY).

Also, $50,000 was actress Deborah Kerr‘s salary for one week’s work on the Casino Royale spoof in 1967.
