Ornamental gold balls featured on various medieval coats of arms, including that of the Bond family. The Bonds have three bezants on theirs, according to the research done by Sir Hilary Bray (George Baker) in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. During his conversation with Ruby Bartlett (Angela Scoular) at Piz Gloria, 007 (George Lazenby) incorrectly tells her that his coat of arms has four bezants instead of three. It’s not clear whether this was an unintentional blooper or Bond is simply inflating his ball count.
Note: The Bond coat of arms seen in the film was created by production designer Syd Cain.
