DE BLEUCHAMP, COUNT BALTHAZAR

Contributed by: The James Bond Movie Encyclopedia by Steven Jay Rubin

Title to which Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Telly Savalas) aspires in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Masquerading as a world-famous allergist who runs an exclusive clinic high in the Swiss Alps, Blofeld has also been tracing his ancestral line and now wishes to claim the de Bleuchamp title. He hopes that the London College of Arms will validate such a claim—a connection that leads James Bond (George Lazenby) to impersonate the college’s Sir Hilary Bray (George Baker) to infiltrate Blofeld’s fortress of Piz Gloria. It is 007’s hope that he can lure Blofeld to Augsburg, the ancestral home of the de Bleuchamps, where he can be arrested by the British Secret Service. Unfortunately, Blofeld is too busy to travel—he’s about to unleash a deadly germ strain to threaten the world’s livestock and agriculture—and Blofeld orders Bond/Sir Hilary to finish his research within the walls of Piz Gloria.
