DOUBLE SIX

Contributed by: The James Bond Movie Encyclopedia by Steven Jay Rubin

A specific dice combination featured in the rigged backgammon game in Octopussy. In order to cheat Major Clive (Stuart Saunders) out of 200,000 rupees, Kamal Khan (Louis Jourdan) has been using loaded dice that can produce a double six at will. When challenged on his uncanny ability to throw that number, Kamal shrugs and says, “It’s all in the wrist.”

When Bond (Roger Moore) takes over the major’s game, Kamal throws another double six and 007 loses a quick 100,000 rupees. However, when the bet is doubled, Bond calls “player’s privilege” and uses Kamal’s loaded dice to score a double six and win the game. Such trickery recalls the golf course shenanigans in Goldfinger.
