How fiendish Aris Kristatos (Julian Glover) plans to torture and kill James Bond (Roger Moore) and Melina Havelock (Carole Bouquet) in For Your Eyes Only. The procedure, taken from Ian Fleming’s novel Live and Let Die, involves tying Bond and Melina together, tossing them over the side of a motor launch, and dragging their bodies over a razor-sharp reef. The plot works until Bond and Melina dive under the water and use the reef to cut the towing rope. When they fail to surface, Kristatos mistakenly thinks they’ve become shark food and heads back to shore. Fortunately, Melina left an air tank near one of her father’s archaeological excavations on the sea floor, which becomes a source of oxygen until Kristatos moves off.
