CUMMINGS, BILL

(1928–2002): British stuntman, a veteran of the 007 team, who portrayed Quist, one of Emilio Largo’s henchmen in Thunderball. It is Quist who attempts to assassinate Bond (Sean Connery) in 007’s Nassau hotel room. Bond surprises Quist, disarming him, then sends him back to Largo with the message “The little fish I throw back in the sea.”

Cummings made his uncredited feature debut as an archer and stunt performer in MGM’s Ivanhoe (1952), which also featured fellow Bond stuntmen Bob Simmons and George Leech. Cummings performed stunt chores on Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Diamonds Are Forever, Live and Let Die, The Man with the Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me, and For Your Eyes Only.
